The Aegean, Greece

Greece was one of my bucket list destinations for a long time. So much history to be seen and beautiful beaches and ruins to explore! So, I was thrilled when I was invited as a delegate to an international convention there in 2019. Along with some time in Athens and Corinth, we spent another week exploring the Greek Isles and even wandering into Turkey for a glimpse at Ephesus. Here’s how we spent our ten sight-seeing days:

Athens

Due to the timing of the convention (summer), we were traveling in peak tourist season and everything was very busy. There was also a heat wave going through, so temperatures were in the 90s and some of the major tourist sites even closed a few days. Additionally, a good portion of our time in Athens was spent with convention activities. However, we were able to visit some of the most famous sights of ancient Greece in our remaining free time.

Our first major historical site was the Parthenon.
